first make sure the following is true of your tampon:
it has a plastic applicator
it is a regular or slim size
these are the best kind of tampons to use for your first time.
when you insert it, slant it a little towards your lower back. put your fingers on the very back of the big part of the applicator, and push it into your vagina until your fingers touch the opening. then push the small tube up.
take out the applicator and throw it in the trash.
if it feels weird, take it out and start over with a different tampon. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!

First of all, you are putting it in wrong if you're in pain or it's uncomfortable. You shouldn't even be able to feel it there. The best thing to do for starting out os stand with one leg propped on the tub and both legs slightly bent down to open the vaginal canal widest. Don't force the tampon in, gently glide it and it will folow the canal's natural angle on it's own. Once it's in down to your fingers ot the rings on the applicator, then push the bottom piece completely into the top piece before pulling it out. Before using any tampon, of course wash your hands but also pull on the string of the tampon after opening to ensure that the string is firmly attached to the tampon. On rare occassions they can be too loose then removing the tampon can be extremely difficult and require help from a medical professional. If the tampon is inserted right, you will know. Start out with Tampax Pearl as they are made smaller and are easier to get used to. Good luck!

First take a tampon and look at it. All the cardboard or plastic is called the applicator. Inside the big end of the applicator is cotton, that is the actual tampon. Now hold the big end with one hand and push the long skinny end into the big end with your other hand. See what happens? The skinny end pushes the cotton part into you while you have the big end inserted. Now, Sit on the toilet, insert the big end of the applicator-pushing up towards your back. Use the skinny part to push-like your giving yourself a shot. Then pull out the applicator-the plastic part. It can be hard at first, my best friend didn't know how to do it when we were kids and she spent half the day with the plastic applicator inserted in her because she thought the whole thing was the tampon!

ok hun try using ob tampons they are very small and have no applicator they go in real easy i always had trouble aiming in at the wrong angle also when i used tampons with applicators. all you do with an ob is un wrap the plastic hold the tampon in one hand and pull the string to the left then the right to make sure the string is on good i always check then some women find it easier to prop one foot up on the side of the tub or toilet when you go to slide the tampon in just aim the tampon towards the middle lower part of your back you know the lol not sure what its called right now but the part of your back that curves in lol any way i think you know what i mean. and just push the tampon in until you cant feel it in you but make sure the string is still out. and relax you will get it.

Ok first relax, take a deep breath and follow the instructions, if you are tense you can feel it and it will be unproductive. I would suggest to start with the thinnest type you can find (I think tampax makes slimfits that are designed for teens). Use plastic tampons as they glide better Also, a bit of ky jelly can help as well, just put it on the outside. Don't worry, it takes time to get used to it. Just relax

This may be obvious, but are you removing both the top and bottom of the applicator? Look at the instructions inside the box and buy the smallest size possible (Tampax make a junior size). When you have it right, you'll know. :)
