Ooh, good question! This could have saved me some grief:
1) Even though you don't turn in homework, you DO need to do it!
2) Even though you can skip class, you DO need to attend!
3) You DO need to do the assigned readings!
I got away with doing almost no homework in high school and got straight As. College takes effort, but you get SO MUCH back.
The number one thing I'm glad my professors DID tell me?
"Don't believe anything I tell you." You need to learn to question everything and think for yourself.
~Enjoy!~

Start all assignments immediately when they are assigned .... the month until they are due will pass very quickly.
Enjoy your college days immensely and take advantage of every opporutniity. You will look back on them fondly as some of the best days of your life.
You can and will make a difference in the world. But start now, as you will not pass this way again.

1) Read ahead, because once the semester starts, you may fall behind, but not by far when you read ahead.
2) Make a time chart, and plan out your week in advance, but most importantly stick to it!! Nothing good will come if you just make a time chart and don't stick to it.
3) Never room with friends, you may get along with them at first, but conflicts of interest can destroy friendships.

2. Go to their office hours - it doesn't even matter if you have a question or not - just go
3. Yes, the classes may seem dumb and you may not be interested in them - but go and do the work anyways because you never know when you might use the info
