Would a Kryptonian alien and human combination create a hybrid? The little super-human won't be able to have his own kids. Is that why the boy is sickly, wheezes, and needs a puffer?
I think Superman flew like he belonged in the air; his natural environment. He floated effortlessly, like a fish in water. I loved when he hovered above Earth listening to the noises of humanity.
I enjoyed the airplane scene too. The movie caught the essence of Superman zipping around saving people around the world. It was so pleasing to see. The movie was able to make Superman iconic, the way he should be displayed.
But the movie was still a bit hokey, like the Batman tv show a long time ago. They couldn't even make it into a decent love story. The Superman actor is too green and nerdy, although some of his poses looked good. It was a generous nod to the memory of Christopher Reeve. I hope Hollywood got the feel good campiness out of its system to now make a respectable movie, like they finally achieved for Batman. I keep hoping not to be so disappointed in these movies. I miss reading the old comic books my uncle passed to us. Superman wasn't hokey there.

Yes, he is an alien. He comes from the planet Kripton. As for the kid, I guess since Clark Kent (Superman) looks human, that movie producers figured him and Lois could have one together. I don't know if that was ever in the comic book or not. As for the flying, the actor did do his research because he had Christopher Reeves movements down. And from what a friend told me, this movie was to take place between movie 2 & 3 of the original movies Reeves was in.

Yes he is, as to the cross-fertilization, who knows? how is it that so many different breeds of dogs can be crossbred? As I have said in previous Questions on the topic, I'm a little upset about the kid, but the true test is what they do with him.
Some of the end flying scenes looked to be clearly CGI, but on the whole it was well done.
To the person who asked about the sickly/wheezy being a sign of bad matching genes, that is wrong, if you looked at the flashback of when CK learned he could fly, he was wearing Glasses, but once he developed his powers he didn't need them anymore, likely because it took that long for his body to fully adjust to this planet.
He surely had all of his powers before, and around that time, but had never tested them.(how many of his powers would he notice unless he attempted them? Jason ceased to need his inhaler once he threw the piano, sensing his mom was in immediate danger her simply reacted and the piano landed on the bad guy.

the scene with the airplane was the only thing in the movie worth watching. as far as the kid goes, that was part of the plot that made absolutely no sense, unless the movie was supposed to take place between supermans 2 and 3, and even then...... no, dude, the movie makes no sense. it sucks.
