My doctor told me that I got a UTI because of my pubic hair, it holds bacteria from me sweating. That i need to start removing all my pubic hair, and washing down there on my lunch break, becuse I have overactive sweat glands. I have never heard of anything like this. Can anyone verify this or help me make some kind of sense of this......it just sounds kinda like a weird diagnoses for a UTI......please help.....honestly

Well, from my medical training I have never told nor heard of anyone being told to shave their pubic hair due to a UTI. . . Yes, it is normal to wash more frequently if necessary, because the excess sweat can get in areas it shouldn't. . . . If you wash 3 times a day when you're sweating more, that alone should prevent reoccurences.

Yes it is weird. I have a medical background also, never heard of any such stuff--unless you are pouring off sweat by the bucket, but even then, what has hair on your groin got to do with a UTI since your UT hole is quite removed from there--maybe a problem for some women, but not guys! Sounds like a pervert--especially if he asked you to do that and come back for a "checkup".

I would seek another doctor or opinion if you ever get a reoccurence. There is no harm in following in following this doctor's orders.
