If you add another user, it will start asking for passwords. The following is a good reference for more information.

Setting the administrator password
To set the administrator password in Windows 2000 and XP, first log into the non-password-protected administrator account, and then follow these steps:

Press the key combination Ctrl-Alt-Del.


Click Change Password.


Leave the "Current password" field blank. Type your newly chosen password in both the "New password" and "Confirm new password" fields.


Click OK.
You should see a dialog box confirming that you set a new password.

Creating A Log On Password For Windows XP

Go into your Control Panel by first clicking on the Start Button.

Then click on the Control Panel icon located in the right column of the Start Menu.

If your Start Menu is set to the Classic View, then begin by clicking on the Start Button.

Then click on Settings, then click on the Control Panel icon to open up the Control Panel.

Now, Double click on the User Accounts icon to open up the User Accounts window.

Then click on the User Account that you want to create a password for.

Then click on the Create a password link on the left side of the screen.

Windows will ask you to Type a new password and also ask you to confirm it.

Type your Password in both areas and then you can also type in a password hint as well.

Now click on the Create Password button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Windows will then ask you if want to make your files and folders private.

You can decide according to the provided information and then click on your choice.

Your password will be saved and you will need to enter it the next time you start your system.

Now close the User Accounts window and the Control Panel window to return back to your session.

This is a simple task.

1. Click Start, then click Control Panel

2. Now click "User Accounts"

3. Click on the user account you want to create a password for.

4. Finally choose the "Create a password" option.

That's it, straight forward and easy.

Click on start and then control panel. Click on user accounts and then change an account. Choose the account you want and then click create password.

1. Go to start, then control panel
2. Click on the control panel
3. Click on User Accounts
4. Where it says pick an account to change, click on the one you want change
5. Click on create a password

Simple go to users in the control pannel and set a password for your acount. if you are not an administrator than you will have to ask your administrator to do that for you.

if your administrator, click start- click picture up by yr name-user accounts opens-click home-pic account to change-enter yr password and follow through and block others from viewing yr files
