Hi. For the 'average' user it is difficult to exceed 1GB a week. Depends on what you use the net for. If it's just browsing, listening to a radio (or even TV) stream for a couple of hours a day and downloading the occasional music track or small program you should be fine.

Just as a tip, most ISP's that impose limits on data transfers stipulate it as a monthly limit - that may be easier for you to think about, as every day's usage is not necessarily going to be the same.

If you really want a definite answer, install one of the free download meters (or bandwidth monitors) from cnet.com, download.com, etc, and see the results after a day's typical use.

Oh, and I would also recommend DU Meter for a bandwidth monitor.

Cheers.

Going over 1GB is a matter of what you do on the internet, or more precisely, what data you transfer. You'll go over 1GB if you download large files, watch large streaming videos, download a lot of music, and so on.

If you're mostly websurfing, checking e-mail, and so on, you don't have to worry.

If you're still concerned about exceeding the limit, you may want to get yourself software that monitors your usage. I actually used on Windows XP a software called BitMeter, but I'm sure there's other ones available.

Depends how fast your connection is, if you have a decent DSL or Cable internet plan you can EASILY do 1GB in 1 day, forget about a week.

1GB is very very very very very small, consider that Gmail, google's email service, gives you over 2GB of space to store email. Granted storage space is different than bandwidth thoroughput, but 1GB is completely dwarfed in today's internet.

All data you transfer over your Internet connection counts towards your usage. For a variety of reasons, transferring a 700MB movie using utorrent will consume a bit more than 700MB.

Offer downloads of very large files (i.e. complete episodes of a television series, or image files of video games).

P.S. "image" does not mean a picture. (FYI)
