My doctor is inducing me on Monday. I'm not thrilled about this, because I've heard medical induction is uncomfortable. I am at 39 weeks and 2 days, 1 cm dilated and 30% effaced as of last Monday (it's Friday today). Basically, I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a more natural way to go into labour this weekend, so I don't have to get Pitocin on Monday? I've been walking like a maniac and eating spicy foods and pineapple, but it hasn't helped. I've tried using the breast pump, and my husband is too freaked out to have sex (he says it's "the baby's space"). I've also heard that swallowing the prostaglandins in semen has the same effect as applying it topically, but that sounds like something a man made up. :/ Any suggestions?

I was scheduled to be induced at 37 weeks because I developed toxemia/preeclampsia, but I was kind of against it and when the time came my urine protein levels and blood pressure had dropped to a reasonable level, so we scrapped that plan. They're back up to WAY higher than they were before now, so my doctor put me on bed rest and decided to induce me even though I'm close to my due date.

I won't be having an epidural, because my doctor believes I'd have a reaction to the medication, or something like that. Either way, I'm not allowed one, so all I get is laughing gas. : /
