A 4 string bass guitar with 2 or more pick ups would work for you. On the kind? Well you will have to supply more info for that one, because I have discovered in my Music store that everyone is very picky about their Guitars. Go to your local Music Store and try them all out. That is the best way to find out what fits your style.

A five string bass has a different string so essentially a different notice like a 7 string guitar it has a different notice however neither are imperative to be well and it could be difficult for a guitarist to gain knowledge of on a 7 string simply love it could be difficult for a bassist to gain knowledge of on a five string so that you will have to get a four string bass

When I switched over, I found the one with the most similar feel to a guitar is the Ibanez RG model. Has a thin neck (compared to most basses) and sounds great for real.

A FOUR string would be better, the fifth string is a waist. It's completely useless and annoying.
