You go girl, and handle your business like a good mommy should. I think you are awesome for teaching her. Your friend should be patting you on the back instead of criticizing you. Two thumbs up!

I agree with you. I have had the same conversation with my twin 6 year old boys. You can never take a chance and teaching them young about everything including drugs and strangers is what you have to do these days. It isn't the time of Ozzy and Harriet or wally and the beav anymore. You should always make sure your kids know they can come to you and tell you things and not be afraid to. I think your friend is wrong!

Ok first of all a bit of advice.................. Dont come to polls and surveys if you want answers that you can take seroiusly, Just my thoughts.
To answer your question, I think she is your daughter and if you feel she should be educated on these things then its your place to decide, not your friend. Im sorry to say but if (god forbid) she were 'touched' in such a way at least she knows right from wrong and hopefully with you talking to here openly about it she will feel comfortable coming to you and it wont be a big secret between her and that person.
Hope that helps.

I think at 6 a child is aware of their private parts and as I have done the same thing. I have taught my children at that age and younger to do exactly that. They do understand what you are saying and will understand even better as they get older.

I think you are doing the right thing 6 is not to young. Children even younger than that are molested every day. It's a wise choice you are making. Your a good Mom!

Absolutely not too soon.
A friend's son was molested at age 3, and if she hadn't talked to him about people touching his "junior," as they called it, no one would ever have known.
As it turned out, the perv went to jail instead of molesting other kids, and my friend's son grew up to be a normal, healthy young man.

Absolutely not, you never know what could happen. She is exposed to other adults and kids. Most kids get taught that stuff in preschool, the family doctor, and other people at a much younger age!

Well i got molested at a very early age so you'd be surprised what kids understand. Maybe if my mom had told me that then I would have been able to say something. there is a lot of shame in it so letting her know it's okay to tell you is smart.

No it's not too young. That's important for your daughter to know with all the sick-o's in the world.
