I went and climbed a mountain back in October. Coming down I sprained my ankle but because I was so near the top, I had to "tough it out" because my Dad nor my two daughters were in any position to tote me down. I am still having ankle pain, especially when I lay down to sleep at night or crossing my feet when I sit. I can walk on it just fine except in high heels. What can I do at home to eleviate some of this pain?

There area number of things it could be. You could have chipped a bone during the initial injury, though that would have caused some pretty intense pain at the time, more than just "toughing it out" and making it down the mountain. You could have also torn or injured a tendon, damaged a nerve (those take a long time to heal), or did more muscle damage than just a sprain. The best choice would be to ignore most the advice here on Yahoo! Answers except for the ones that suggest you see an Orthopedist. You want one that specializes in the foot, ankle, leg (some specialize in the back and that would not help you) the other choice is a sports physician. Either of those can do a good physical examination and make a determination of what treatment needs to be done. The longer you wait the more damage and the harder it is to treat. Your pain and problem then becomes chronic and more damage can be done. At the very least see your primary care doctor. Many of them are very good and can give recommendations as to further treatment options. Physical Therapy might be all that is needed.

take it from someone who has been in pain since they were very little in their ankle (born with it). It's pretty hard since there's not too much you can do. First you should get an x ray and ct scan becuase there could be something really wrong with it, maybe worse than a break or sprain. To aleviate pain, i usually take advil/motrin. Motrin i usually found is better. Ice it, and keep it up to stop swelling. Evaluate it over a period of time too, write down what you did, and how bad the pain is after you did it, and tell the doctors. They can maybe do somthing for you. For best results though, stay off of it as much as you can until you know what is wrong with it. Believe me, I know ankle pain. Good luck and i hope it gets better sooon.

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.

So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.

Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.

A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.

Heal your ankle fully & fast?

whats up mate as a tattoo artist i hav a few recommendation for you! As it's your first tattoo i advocate going for a fleshier side of your frame than your foot to scan your agony tolerance. Foot tattoos will also be totally uncomfortable, a few artists even refuse to do them (alng with palms and face) until you have already got a reasonable quantity of tattoo insurance plan. As for running round in footwear, i might advocate having it performed for the period of a hoiday or a time while you'll be able to put on turn flops or pass barefoot for a minimum of two weeks till the swelling has lowered and scab close to long gone as footwear rubbing on it could possibly purpose alot of irratation, lengthen therapy and purpose the ink to smudge. Sounds like im throwing a bucket of water over it sorry :P no longer seeking to particularly and it'll prove you like the sensation of getting tattoos so definately opt for one, however do propose you begin on an arm or leg simply to determine the way you react to the needle! Happy inking mate :)
