It is entirely due to the economics of making a round box, or rather the better economics of making square boxes.
Have you noticed that most everything comes in square boxes?

It's cheaper to make a square box. There are more lines, no curves. To produce a box, and alot of other things, it's easiest, and thus cheapest, to keep everything linear, and without curves. In the interest of saving money, pizza places use boxes.

i guess square boxes are easier to come by, easier to make, cheaper, easier to assemble or easier to package. And probably because boxes are really square!
