I don't have any children, so I can't blame it on them., I am in search for a new job. But I need ways to go to the interview. My attire is casual, and I can't dress up at work, its to obvious that I have an interview. I need some good solid excuses. I have used the death in the family already. Help!!!!

How about just taking a personal or vacation day rather than lying?

Most companies have the PTO (paid time off) policy in place as opposed to sick days, vacation etc. Just submit paperwork to take the time off. But a better suggestion is to schedule interviews early in the morning or late in the afternoon, keep a change of clothes in the car appropriate to the time of the interview, and have Dr./Dentist appts or that you're meeting contractors at your house. Also, I'm picking up/dropping off someone at the airport is a good one. Good luck!!!!

I think they're gonna know you had an interview eventually. Just dress up and go to work! You probably need the money anyway...we all do...it's Christmas!

Seriosly - Diahrea. Has worked everytime for me - tell them, "im embarrassed to even bring this up to you, i've been to the toilet 3 times already since I woke up, I think its viral because it burns and is very watery. Do you think I should see a doctor or come in? (I've never been let down - they say - no no no no - you take care of yourself, call us a little later to see how you are doing - but definitely stay away from us.)

Honesty. A good boss will encourage his/her employees to better themselves, even if it means leaving the company. Creating an excuse can come against you especially if they call your present supervisor (as most do). Ask for a longer lunch, or ask the interviewer for an interview after hours.

Very simply state: I will be out of the office on these days. When they ask why, say "Personal reasons". The less you say the better. Be respectful, but vague.

I use one of the following and it has worked like a charm...

a) The dirty hippies staged a protest in my apartment due the the deplorable living conditions of my worthless cats. I tried to set them on fire, but I was tied with hemp rope and left to die. I narrowly escaped using only my wits, a toothbrush, and a tube of vagisil. Hippies are allergic to vagisil, just so you know...its sort of like kryptonite or silver bullets...

b) I was roped into a tea party by my stuffed animals...this was no ordinary tea party...this was a bondage tea party. Even the little bear I got for Christmas had on his vest with 4 inch spikes. Oh, it was splendid!!! Just delightful... Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to school. My animals told me that if tried to leave, they would magically turn me into a left running shoe and that I would sit in the closet for ever and ever without a mate. Who wants that!!?? I decided to stay at home...but here's my homework...

I agree with the cramps and/or diarrhea story. It is the excuse that they can't tell you to come into work anyways.
