I work in a refuge for homeless teens, they can get pretty nasty when things dont go their way. Just completely ignore it, dont say anything, dont show any emotion, Try to give out the whatever vibe.
This works really well, most of the time an apology will be given later when they have calmed down and then discuss actions.
This would apply to kids in the street etc. Do not feed them by reacting. This will only encourage them to do the same thing next time to you or someone else.

Start by asking them why they said what they said. Kids are very intuitive. They'll see tiny details you take for granted about where you work, where you live, or your appearance. They won't know what to make of it. So, see it from their perspective. It might be pretty funny.
If it's mean or cruel, let them know how you feel. Most kids don't want to feel they did something wrong and will apologize if they know they hurt your feelings. Older kids are built tougher and may be at the point where at first they just don't care, until they're punished. It still helps to talk it out with them. Off handed remarks can keep replaying if you don't confront them about it and find out why they said it. If you don't lash out at them, they might stop after you talk with them.
Note: Talk with them, not at. So listen to what they have to say, too. Kids get bored with lectures.

Honestly, I have seen young people do this. First of all, why are they making fun of you? Sometimes kids make fun of things they don't understand or they don't agree with. I would try to find out what is the real reason, and attempt to diffuse their ability to make fun of you. You have to think on the level of the children to understand the root cause of the joking. Joke back! Laugh it off. It usually works. They'll respect you if you can connect on their level.

If you are the adult then you just have to show them a little authority. Show them whos boss and that you cant be pushed around. I have to do that with someone I work with...physically they arent a child but mentally I wonder. : ) Just be firm and give it back to them. I hope this helps.
If all else fails just beat them a few times...they will stop. hehe (completely kidding).

If you are letting children wreck your day by teasing you, you should not call yourself an adult. Why would you give them that much power over you?

The only way to not let that bother is to not care. Even if you do care act like you dont and if they say something smuther them with kindness. That will really hack them off then they will eventually stop.
