Hurricanes are dramatic and can cause damage, but if she's prepared (and insured if necessary) there's no big reason to worry about her..risk from dying from hurricanes is lot lower than more mundane things like car accidents.

She should be sure to pay attention to the news during hurricane season, and stock up on extra supplies in case the roads are impassible for a time. Also have her check whether the place she lives in meets hurricane construction recommendations.

Dealing with hurricanes is the price we pay for living in paradise.

Relax, we Floridains are more that used to the threat. Having to hang storm shutters and fight in the supermarket for water and canned goods a couple of times a year is a pain, but it gets easier every time you go through it.

Plus, I'd rather deal with a hurricane that gives you a few days prep time before it hits, rather than a tornado or earthquake which give you no warning.

You can live your life worrying and being miserable over something that may NEVER HAPPEN, or you can stop worrying needlessly and get on with your life. When and if a hurricane nears your cousins home, THEN start worrying, when you really have reason to.

Meh, I wouldn't worry too much. Especially these days. There wasn't even ONE hurricane that made landfall on US soil this year. I lived in Florida a couple times, and the worst that happened was typical thunder storms.

What hurricanes? The season is over for this year and there wasn't a single one. Every place has dangers. If her family takes regular precautions, she'll be fine.

As a resident of Florida for over 43 years, there is nothing to worry about (except those huge 13 foot alligators swimming next to you). Ha ha hahahahaha

Nothing! For one, hurricane season is over. Secondly, every state has natural disasters, where do you expect her to live?
