Perhaps you're expecting too much? She sounds really friendly as she is. We're absolute giants to them, you know... I wouldn't like a cuddle from the Statue of Liberty, even if it fed me and cared for me. My hammie just doesn't want to be picked up, so I accept that and we have not much physical contact; he's happy and I love him to bits just as he is.

My hamster bit too. Make sure she sees your hand first before you pick her up or she will be scared. First start to feed her, then pet her, and then try to pick her up after she is comfortable with being petted. If you can't try the next day.

the safest way 2 hold the dear little buggers is by the scruff of the neck.they have loose skin on that part and i found that really helped then u can pop him in your hand and handle as normal..im not keen on them myself iv got a huge fear of them which stems from when i worked in a pet store

don't be afraid to get bitten a little (yes I know they have VERY sharp teeth) the more you handle the little missus the more she will enjoy being with you and the tamer she will be.
also look up how there mothers hold there young and do this to her (It looks Cruel but it doesn't hurt them and she will think your the boss)
Unfortunately you can't completely succeed if she just generally has a bad personality and was born that way your just going to have to put up with it.

get her out of her cage everyday. this is best done when you have just got them and eventually they climb into your hands and just run about.
my hamster was really scared when i fisrt got her so i introduced my hand to her every day untill she was brave enough to climb out. now i hjave trouble getting her back in!
if she is biting perhaps you holding her too tight?

If hamsters are like guinea pigs, they do not like to be held a lot. I have a guinea pig, he does the same thing. This is because he likes his privacy.
What a way to tell me to leave him alone!

you have to work with her a lot to get her used to you. I would wear gloves and play with her more and more... It will take a lot of attention from you to get to the point where you can just pick her up without her biting you.

regular daily handling is the answer. It just needs to get used to you first & build up trust. They also tend to be a bit nocturnal so if you handle her during the day she may be a bit grumpy

If she is a teddy bear hamster, they are more hyper. They usually dont sit there and let you hold them. A rat would deff. do that though!!
