I learned everything I know about drumming from teaching myself. Two things:

1 Once you have your basic technique, 4 way independence, you need to play along with recorded music of other bands. Music you wanna play along with, songs that you can jam too. The reason for this is for your time. A drummer with bad time may as well not bother at all. Playing along with other great drummers (who have probably recorded their tracks using some kind of metronome) will help build you internal meter guide.
2. Watch other drummers - buy instructional DVDs if you can, they are fantastic for explaining things that you might not understand. Watch live concert DVDs of your favorite bands and pay real close attention to what the drummer is doing.

The more music you ingest the better and more rounded drummer you will become.

Good luck dude and remember: When in doubt...roll!

Just start with the basics. Know that if you are right handed, you will quite often be keeping time with your right hand, playing 4th or 8th notes usually on the highhat or ride cymbal, while your right foot hits the one and threes, and your left hand hits the snare on 2 and 4. The coordination will be difficult to get at first, but what I would do is set yourself up with a daily practice routine that you have made yourself, and then just do a ton of listening and trying to play along with or figure out the drum beats for a wide variety of music, including rock, blues, jazz...just remember to minimize your movements so you're not using more force than you need. Think of those Karate guys who chop bricks without very much of a windup.

try to find a fren who has a set of drums, d real 1, not electronic drums.you can get some pointers from tat friend and also get a book to teach urself.practice everyday till ure used to it, d handling of dumsticks n beats.i guess tat would be the cheapest n most practical way to learn drums.

Buy or rent a drum lesson DVD and try to play along. After you get the basics down, try to play along with CD's of some of your favorite bands.
