Does anyone know how to pass a polygraph test (lie detector) ???

haha, oops, I meant to say "how can you pass a polygraph if you plan to lie?". Obviously telling the truth is a good answer but that's not what I meant.

in the beginning, when they calibrate it with simple questions, over-react when you lie, like go "omfg, they're gonna spank me".

then when you actually lie, relax and answer it like you believe in it.

are you a girlfriend of confusedhurtfather? he has a polygraph Q too on here. :)

Hi
Polygraph test is based on a very simple theory. That is, when a person lies , it is thought and believed so far, certain hormones are released or secreted in brain from Hypothalamus.( Limbic System in particular)..an area which is deeply related to our feelings, emotions and resultant reactions, These hormones, mostly, Adrenaline or epinephrine causes changes in our vascular system in particular and also in other systems too. That is why the famous slang " FIGHT OR FLIGHT or ADRENALINE RUSH" is used. These hormones or substances , although affect other systems but their pronounced and immidiate effect are on heart which leads to change in pulse rate and pressure and change in pulse pressure gets recorded on strip in the form of spikes just like EKG OR ECG OR EEG. So the height of spickes or their rate on graph at certain unit of time, while a particular question is being asked, will determine the answer either false or true.
It does not mean that every spike is taken as wrong answer or false statement. For example, U may not know the answer of question, and being in the state of such situation, U may get excited or conscious which can lead to changes in pulse pressure or no change at all.
So, hypothetically, it's ONLY possible when u can control ur neural hormones. Then ur heart rate and resulting pressure of pulse will not change.
Being cool and calm will not change the internal hormonal changes. All this happens on unconscious level. Its involuntary.

A possible option to pass the test, while lying, is ur skillful training: A special training facing the similar situation...i.e. ...GETTING ACCLIMITIZATION.
As body becomes acclimatized to certain situations, then our reflexes and responses also becomes conditioned and acclimitized.
There are hundreds of cases and examples where criminals have cheated this test or escaped from it. At least , they put the analyst to report it as "INCONCLUSIVE".
That is why this test not considered totally reliable and dependable NOW.
International Spying Agencies do train their agents or expose them to such type of tests to condition them.
So this acclimitization or conditioning may lead to unconclusive result. In other words, U cannot be declared untruthful.
Again, theoratically, If someone can induce , artifiscially, TEMPORARY AMNESIA by the use of certain drugs, it will also lead to a " inconclusive" or wrong interpretation. Because of transitory forgetfullness, the response to the question will not produce the resultant desired effects to meet the crieteria of standard spike or wave spike used to differentiate between true or false answer.
Regards:

If you are able to control your blood pressue, heart rate, and breathing, you can "pass" a polygraph even if you lie. The system works on the assumption that these things change when you are nervous because you are lying.

Yes I know how. After they ask you the question, ask yourself another question in your head and answer either yes or no to your queston that you asked yourself. Which ever answer you want to give, that way you're not lying. Does that make sense?

example: they ask you "did you steal that car?"

before you answer say in your head: :"Am I a man?"

answer out loud: "no"

you're not lying!! lol

lie dectecter goes by heart rate, sweat, and other body reactions thats happen when you lie. You just have to be calm, keep your cool, and your heart rate down.
