I've only had this Dell PC for the last two years, sometimes it boots if I keep on turning on and off? Any ideas out there?
-Thanks!-

What bios error does it gives. Always give the error message.

First try running the system without the ups if u have one. Then
open the case Clean the ram, celan ram slots. Thghten the hdd Data and power cabels and any other device data and power
cables. Check bios and see if hdd is detected.

Chances are ur cmos battery has drained since ur using the pc for last two ears. Check the cmos battery voltages it should not be less than 3.00v
Boot from cd and run badsector scanning.

U did not mention the exact bios error.
U have not mentioned the exact shutdown message.

What Os are u using.

From ur more info It seems ur Infected with some sort trojn/virus
get some updated free antivirus software[Avg/Avira anitvirus] and do a full system scan with all files enabled.

The Blue screen can also be due to LOOSE OR BAD RAM or a Bad device on ur mobo such as lan card or internal modem or sound card Chances are ur RAM are loose reattach them properly and see what happens.

Most likely your PSU (power supply) has degraded to such a point that it can no longer support the hardware needed to boot up. Since it does not happen all the time it would point to this rather than a faulty drive. It may appear that it is the hard drive but this is only because the drive will be not spinning at the same speed when the data was written to it. Get a new PSU (for about £10 (600w)) and you should not have any further problems

If the drives are spinning but the bios never kicks in, then you probably have a bad bios chip or faulty motherboard. It is probably more expesive to have a computer repair shop track down the problem than it would be to just replace the motherboard.

Deffo bad power supply. Had the same problem myself with the clicking thing. If you are not PC-literate and you don't know anyone who will re-build one for you out of your bits, I'm afraid it is time to get yourself another base unit.

Ask your hard drive to send you a greeting card from wherever it is vacationing on a permanent basis!

Take your PC to a reliable shop and have it checked!

Check the power supply and make sure it is on the right voltage setting for your area. I.E. 115 or 220.
