You can either set up a VPN connection via hardware, or you can set up a software connection. Cisco has both hardware and software options. Just go to www.cisco.com and look there.

You can also go to www.logmein.com and use it for free. I use that and don't have any problems.

go to www.noip.org, sign up for account. download client to your home PC. Now load something like VNC to connect remotely to your desktop, this will give you an internet DNS to connect to.

easy solution, no hardware to buy.

VNC is not a secure solution, but provides more flexibility.
Using through an Openvpn tunnel can make it secure: http://www.openvpn.org.
Logmein is secure but the basic version doesn't provide full functionality.
