anyone who attempts to answer this sincerely are fooling themselves, we may as well attempt to comprehend infinity as answer this question. you can phrase the question but in its essence an exact and satisfactory answer is impossible in our current state.

I, being mortal cannot begin to explain the power of God. It is beyond our understanding. God is here for us and for our enemies (for the Bible tells me so). He does not need a reason for existence because He is "the alpha and the omega, the first and the last". The question that you're asking should be the other way around. It shouldn't be "Why is there a god?", it should be "Why are there people who question God's authority?"

Because there would be no world or man if there were no God. God created all things and things do not just happen by accident. If you believe in evolution and that we came from some ooze out of a primeival liquid than you are deranged. God is and if He wasn't then we would not be. God said to Moses when Moses asked, "Who shall I say send me" answered, "I AM THAT I AM."

God's essence is His own existence.
He is Being or Existence Itself, as a result, He is the necessary being of reality.
He is the ultimate, primordial, necessary reality to which all else must refer.
As Being or Existence Itself, He has all possible positive attributes to an infinite degree ("I AM" is His name - Exodus 3:14).
Finite things are distinguished from Him in being finite and in being dependent upon Him.

There is no real god. It is just something people use because they can't take responsibility for their own actions.
edit: @ Lewis, where did god come from?

To comfort our poor and primitive barbarian ancestors who faced an unknown world, they created god and the supernatural realm. Thanks to them, we've inherited obsolete genes and consequently a distorted worldview (at least 80% of the earth's population). The rest of us see objective reality and have exposed the man behind the curtain.

I don't mean to sound judgmental because that isn't what I am trying to be.
My point is instead of asking why, one should be asking who God is.

Because humanity cannot cope with death, and is at various points of developement too dumb and/or lazy to bother to learn why something happens. It's easier to blame an all-powerful being.
