I went to the restroom and urinated and seen that there was blood in my urine. I've been using the bathroom all day and that didn't happen. I wiped myself but I didn't see any blood. I just went to the doctors Tues. and everything was fine no UTI's or any other type of infection. Do you think my mucus plug came out?

The mucus plug is an accumulation of cervical secretions, which form all throughout pregnancy to block the cervix and deter the passage of bacteria into the uterus. Usually in pregnancy, the mucus is cloudy clear, thick and sticky. Toward the end of pregnancy, when the cervix thins, some blood is released into the cervix which gets caught up in the mucus and becomes bloody. The capillaries in the lower uterine segment break down a bit and can bleed. In early labor, the plug is usually released as a continuous stringy discharge but sometimes it can actually resemble a plug. Any vaginal discharge in pregnancy should be evaluated. It could be normal but it could be a sign of a vaginal infection, which may or may not impact the pregnancy depending on the type, a sign of a cervical infection (unlikely if the pap is normal) or it could be premature rupture of the membranes, which can happen at any time in the form of a small leak or a large gush. If a wet mount (microscopic test) has been done and is negative and the pap is normal, and cultures for gonorrhea and chlamydia are negative and rupture of membranes has been ruled out -- then we explain that the discharge is normal. I would ask your provider for an exam to rule out any problems.

You say there was blood in your urine? By that do you mean that the urine itself was read, or you saw reddish blobbies (sorry, I know that's not a technical term...) in the urine? If the urine itself was read, I would go to a walk-in clinic or something, because it may be a UTI (I've had bladder infections that made me pee blood). It could also be placenta previa, which means the placenta is just resting right over your cervical opening.
If you were seeing red blobbies, I wouldn't worry, because that's normal if it is your mucus plug. Just don't expect to go into labour right away if you did lose your "plug": I lost mine days ago and still NOTHING.

Good luck.

when i had my first daughter, the day i went into labor, i bled. im postive it was the "mucus plug" that came out. its usually a pinkish tint or it can be bloody. theres a good chance you could go into labor the day it came out or you might not for another 2 weeks or so. if youre worried call ur doctor. otherwise, ur fine.

High possibility, sometimes it could come out and you not know it. Or it could come out little at a time. Or maybe it hasn't came out and you're experiencing something very normal before labor, I had a little blood about 2 wks before i delivered, the doctor said not to worry, it happens sometimes.

There is really no such thing as a "Mucus plug". All it is is when your cervix starts to begin to thin, you notice some mucusy discharge. Good luck!!!
