Please honey, I went at 42 weeks and that was because the dr induced. I tried it all, over and over and over again. Nothing works. The baby isn't going to come until it is good and ready and only the baby can decide when that will be unless you are medically induced. All those other things are old wives tales that trust me, don't work. Women just try them and try them and eventually they go into labor, swear that was what caused it and really it was just time to go into labor. If you are really that miserable, talk to your dr. But please don't force this baby out beffore they are completely ready. Babies are suppose to be born on their own terms, not their parents.

Your body has to be ready for labor, if your cervix is effaced and you are starting to dilate home remedies are more favorable. If you are not effaced evening primrose oil can help start the ripening process. Evening Primrose oil will not increase contractions, it only softens/ripens a cervix.
As a doula, I suggest LaborBoost Labor Cream or Balm. Our doula group and midwives have seen this work effectively to get active labor patterns within 8 hours of application. This LaborBoost cream method is recommended over Castor oil because it does not cause diarrhea. We have seen a 90% success rate, when the cervix is ready for labor.
Happy Birthing!

Nothing. I'm currently 40 weeks and 3 days and my midwife had me taking Evening Primrose Oil by mouth and by inserting it since week 37, and then at week 38 along with the EPO she had me taking Black Cohosh a dropper full for a few days working up to 3 days, and we tried sex, walking ALOT but it didn't help. I'm 3cm dilated 75% effaced but labor is not starting! If you find something that works let me know!! Good luck!

you mentioned the two things I would have told you to try. When my sister was pregnant we tried walking to induce her labor and it didn't work. So later I had her doing my hair. Sitting for a few hours in one spot apparently did the trick. OR it could be that my nephew was just ready to come out.
I was watching discovery health and they suggested that finding something else to do can make the wait more bearable. Things like household chores, laundry, dishes, cooking, or some hobby that you like to do. Just find something to do with your time and get your mind off of the fact that your child is taking his/her time coming out.
Congratulations by the way.

My doctor had me take two shot glasses of castor oil and it worked with three of my four children. If you do it right, it will just induce labor without making you miserable. I had to wait four to six hours and if nothing happened, I was told that you weren't ready to go into labor. But, it worked three out of four times. It stimulates your bowel to contract and then causes your uterus to contract too.The stuff is nasty but if you are desperate enough, you'll do it. Better talk to your OB first. My OB suggested it but some don't like to have you take it. Hope that helps! Otherwise, walk constantly. My other child was born from me walking all day. I swear by it.

Sex was what worked for me, and if you're already dilating i would say tons and tons of walking and no sex for sex is not good after dilating. Walking really isn't effective if you're not dilated but is really effective if you are.
Stimulate your nipples for 10 to 20 minutes at a time. That sometimes can help. Rub gently but with a little pressure (not much) on your belly. other than that look some ways up on the internet.

Having multiple orgasms can help. If your cervix has thinned some then you can try walking (a lot) everyday. Other than these, there really isn't anything else you can do. Once you do go into labor, if you walk around, it will help bring the labor process on more quickly.

I tried everything when i was pregnant. My doctor suggested doing squat to open up the hips and sex. Other people told me to take a hot bath to help thin the cervix and to drink green tea because it relaxes the muscles. I tried them all and still delivered past my due date at 41 weeks. Good luck, maybe one will work for you.

keep having sex! The baby is going to come when he is good and ready. I know it is hard, but just try and enjoy yourself with out a crying baby. Milk the time you have left to yourself and pamper yourself. You wont be able to for the next 18 years.
