Depends on her birth weight. General guidelines are double their birth weight at 6 months. If your Dr. didn't tell you it isn't a healthy weight then I wouldn't worry about it too much. :)

Hi! My son was 16 lbs. 5 oz. at a little over 4 months. He is probably around 17 ish now, but doesn't have another appointment until Jan. 3. He was born at 9 lbs. 10 oz., so his weight gain has been steady. There are many factors when trying to see if a baby is overweight, but that sounds like your baby is close to the 90-95th percentile or so. Ask your doctor & don't forget each child is different. If your baby is drinking breastmilk only, then everything will work itself out. Once again, don't be afraid to ask your doctor or someone else that knows more about it! Hope this helps!

No that is fine for a very healthy baby my son was a chunk he was 40lb by the time he was 1 so your doing ok ..Right now its the time I have to watch my son weight he is 5 years old and weighs 70lbs but he is also very tall for a 5 year old and very broad in the chest and all muscle .. So this year he is going into wrestling I hope he will lose some of his root beer belly ... as I like to call it

But he follows the same diet i'm on so he just eats really well

when my baby was weighed at is 4 month check up he was 14 lbs and 8 oz. and 26 1/2 in. long. he will be 5 months on Dec. 20. she probably isn't overweight though. why couldn't your doc tell you whether that was a good weight or not. if he didn't know he should have looked it up for you.

My baby is 3 1/2 months old and she weight 18lbs and is 26 inches. My doctor told me to cut back on what I was feeding her although she was only eating about 32oz a day. I checked her percentiles and both are high for her age but she is the right weight for her height so my baby is just healthy. My husband is also 6ft 5 so she is probably gonna be big. But here is a website that may help. http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/usefultools/l/bl_percentiles.htm

In a vacuum, that's a perfectly fine weight. Why your doctor didn't, or said s/he couldn't, tell you whether that's a good weight for your baby is baffling. There are growth charts available on-line that you can look at which will allow you to plot your baby's growth and determine what percentile she falls in. That said, it's best not to get wrapped up in percentiles and growth charts to begin with! Barring the extremes, what matters is whether your baby is consistently following her own growth curve. So, for example, she may be in only the 5th percentile for weight (she's not; I'm just hypothesizing), but if her growth pattern keeps her in the 5th percentile consistently your doctor isn't likely to worry. If she's in the 5th percentile one month, the 50th the next month, well, then, that's a different matter.

Your baby is almost at the 75% precentile. That is kind of big.My son was 6.5 at birth and got heavy fast.He stayed at the 95% on the chart.Keep in mind 50% is average. He just turn 2 and no longer looks fat.He weights 30 pounds.Im attaching a link for you to store in your favorites. Its the growth chart.I used it often and it is correct according to my lil ones pediatrician.

It depends on the child. My 8 month old weighs 16 pounds. My first child weighed about the same as yours at 5 months. Dont worry!!
