Yes you can retrieve them if you have the same in internet explorer. The same thing happened to me try this...Bookmarks> Manage Bookmarks > Import (From file menu) and then click the microsoft internet explorer choice and then next...good luck!

If they're not in the recycle bin then probably not. Try a file recovery program;
http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/system/fwdatarecovery.html - PC inspector file recovery, data recovery
In future make sure you keep a back up copy somewhere safe. Go to Organise Bookmarks - File - Export and keep the text doc in a safe place.

Check "C:\Documents and Settings\ \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ \bookmarkbackups"
If there is a bunch of html files, you are good to go.
In Firefox, go to Bookmarks - Organise Bookmarks.
In the Bookmarks Manager, go to File - Import...
In the Import Wizard, select "From File" and click "Next"
Browse to your Bookmarkbackups directory and choose the most recent file.

Delete how? I assume you've checked your recycle bin (if you were in the directory containing them in windows explorer and deleted them, they may be there).
