The Colts and Patriots were never rivals. They're only a good matchup because it's Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning. When people think of rivalries, here are a few that come to mind:
New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox
New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves
New York Knicks vs. Miami Heat (in the 90's)
New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles
New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins
Maybe: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Miami Heat (b/c of Shaq and Kobe)
Definately not the colts and patriots.

Pats and Colts really isn't a rivalry, football is just trying to turn it into one but those games do not have that much intensity in them. The top three sports rivalry's are:
New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox (MLB)
Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes (NCAA Football)
Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels (NCAA Basketball)

I would say USC vs FUCLA in college football..just look @ what happened last week. USC#2 vs unranked FUCLA. Everybody thought SC was going to beat the fluck outta FUCLA. I knew FUCLA would play them though, because of the rivalry. I disagree with Patriots vs. Colts, simply because they don't have a long history of playing each other, in playoffs, just up until a few years ago. Even before the NFL realign, they were in the same AFC East Division, and still didn't create a big rivalry.

College basketball - North Carolina/Duke - Kentucky/Louisville

College football - Ohio State/Michigan - USC/Notre Dame - Nebraska/Oklahoma

Pro basketball - 76'ers/Boston

Pro baseball - Yankees/Red Sox

Pro football - Eagles/Cowboys - Raiders/Chiefs - Giants/Eagles
Steelers/Bowns - Jets/Miami (take your pick)

These are all historical rivalries. I would agree that the Pats and Colts have established a more modern day rivalry that should last a long time. It might even become as good as the ones I've mentioned.

It's gotta be the Yankees vs Red Sox. So many classic moments of when Aaron Boone hit the game winning homer, when Bucky Dent hit the homer during 1978 ALCS, and many others. I'm a die-heart Yankees fan and it's gotta be the Yankees vs Red Sox.
