Christmas Eve is where we celebrate the Italian traditions in our family with different seafoods and pastas and other special dishes. Then on Christmas Day, we celebrate in the more traditional manner with Turkey , etc...
Both include exchanging gifts and lots of fun stuff.
Merry Christmas!

My family has always celebrated more on Christmas Day. My wife's family always celebrated more on Christmas Eve. Her family (Catholic) would go to midnight mass and then come home and open presents until 3 or 4 in the morning and then sleep in on Christmas Day. My family would go to bed early on Christmas Eve and then get up early on Christmas Day. This caused a lot of tension between my wife and I when we were first married, especially when our first son came along.

I celebrate more on Christmas Eve.. I've always had Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve at my Grandmother's with all of my family and when I was little my sister and I eventually just convinced our parents to let us open gifts when we got back home from that as well.

More on Christmas Eve because that's when all the family gets together... then Christmas day is for everyone to spend with their spouses and children. That way we are all together but not to the point of getting on each others nerves!

We're a messed up family. Im divorced with 2 boys and engaged to a man who is divorced with a daughter. We spend Christmas Eve with the kids, open presents, eat junk, watch Christmas movies, make cocoa, then go drive around a look at all the houses and decorations before we drop them with their respective other parents. It gives us time with our family, minimizes fights about how to split the holday, and gives the exes their presents. and entire day to wrap and get ready without the kids n the house. Christmas day is quiet for us we just relax and enjoy, visit a few friends.
