Can you remember your first grade teacher?

Yes, Mrs. Smith, (true) and to this day I still hate her. She was mean and cruel. She gave me the strap because I sat in the desk of a boy who was my friend and wouldn't go to my own seat. I was only 5 1/2 and really tiny, and didn't understand why this was a problem. She just grabbed me out of the desk, took me to the front of the class and strapped my hand. This was a long time ago, and now a teacher would never dare do this to a small child, thank goodness.

Yes! Mrs. Delizo.. She taught me how to read. Everyday during recess, all of the grade 1 students get to lie down on a small mattress and take a nap for a good one hour. Instead of that, my mom paid Mrs. Delizo to teach me how to read during our nap time. So while everyone's asleep, she was making me read that thin booklet with a yellow cover. I remember hating every second of it as I see all those other kids getting to rest while I read those abcs.

Yep, I sure do. Her name was Mrs. Hill. She always had a dish of lemon drops on her desk to give out to the kids who were quiet at nap time. Lovely lady : )
