The inside of my convection microwave oven is stainless steel. I hesitate to use any strong cleaning solution on the side with the perforations for fear that it might damage the heating device or not be able to remove the cleaning solutions if it seeps on the other side of the holes. But I want the stains out.

Put a bowl of water inside the microwave and heat it until it's boiling. It will make all the stuff stuck on the inside easy to wipe off with just a damp towel.

Pour about 1/4 cup of vinegar into a bowl of water. Nuke it for 45-60 seconds. That should loosen the stains enough that you should be able to wipe them down with just paper towels.

Hope this helps.

Try this cloth. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially windows. They are made out of tiny fibers that work like razor blades. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I even waxed my car with it! I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out.

Just use regular dish soap. Try one with bleach or bleach alternative, I think DAWN has one. Also, boil a bowl of water in there first. It will soften anything that is stuck on so you have less scrubbing. Good luck.
