I'm a senior in high school and have known these people for a while and am friendly with them but not very close and I want to integrate myself into their group. I started buying presents for their birthdays and Christmas coming up, do you think sitting at lunch with them would help? The thing is I'm really shy and i know they like me but I don't talk much and I don't know if that will keep them from ever getting invited to do things with them. Like is it ok just to ask?

(I apologize I know I asked this not all that long ago)

Here are some ways by which you can intergrate yourself in a group:
*Watch out for ur attitude.
*Try to see what do they like & always do it for them.
*Be positive and fill your speech with uplifting words. Never make an insulting joke to get attention.
*Have confidence and don't slouch when you walk. Try to always have a fun time.
*Try to invite them to a party at your house.
*Bring a lot of gifts for them & try to express what do you feel towards them.
Yes,sitting at lunch with them would help a lot.Try to talk with them more & you would notice the difference.Try to show how much you care about them and how much you do really love them.
You have done a great step by bringing gifts for them.Keep going, dear and you are going to get what you want.Good luck!!Bye!!!

You sound just like me in high school. I was totally shy & I didn't integrate well, either. There wasn't anything wrong with me, I just lacked in social skills. It would help to sit with them at lunch & see how it goes, but buying presents for them may be a bit much. Sounds like you're trying to BUY their friendship & you deserve better than that. Perhaps you should consider that this may not be a crowd you need to be in. If they were truly friends at all, they would've already pulled you into their social group without you having to do all of this. However, I have to tell you that I never 100% got over my shyness & I still have problems & I'm 31 years old. So, I may not be one to give advice. Just be true to yourself. Making friends in high school can be important to your life. Nothing better than a lifelong friendship that you can count on. Good luck in finding it & make sure they're for real before investing your heart & soul into them. I would hate to see you hurt yourself & that's what can happen very easily with someone that is sensitive as you are. Take Care~

Don't try to buy them with gifts. What they want is you. You don't want to change that to them wanting you because of gifts. You need to show some confidence and develop your self esteem. Try being you. Sit with them at lunch and find something you have in common with a couple of them. If you don't know, go sit there with them for lunch and listen to what they have to say.

first, buying presents probably wasn't the best idea. that is just buying their friendship and they will end up just tolarating you becuase you do that for them. you deserve friends that like you for who u are, not what you get them. but YES! sitting by them at lunch is a great idea. strike up conversations and let them talk about themselves to you. ask them questions. ask them to go see a movie with you on a friday. just be yourself and don't sell out for them.
