The other posters have given you the information. My only other advice would be to ask whether yours is being done with anesthetic. It is not always done with anesthetic, and then it is no fun. Ask for an anesthetic.

The colonoscope is a thin, flexible instrument that ranges from 48 in. (121.9 cm) to 72 in. (182.9 cm) long. A small video camera is attached to the colonoscope so that photographic, electronic, or videotaped images of the large intestine can be made. In some cases, the colonoscope may use fiber optics. However, digital video technology has generally replaced fiber optics. The colonoscope can be used to view the entire colon as well as a small portion of the lower small intestine. Another test called sigmoidoscopy shows only the rectum and the lower third of the colon.
Before this test, you will need to clean out your colon (colon prep). Colon prep takes 1 to 2 days depending on which type of prep your doctor recommends. Some preps may be taken the evening before the test. For many people, the prep for a colonoscopy is more trying than the actual test. Plan to stay home during your prep time since you will need to use the bathroom frequently. The colon prep causes loose, frequent stools and diarrhea so that your colon will be empty for the test. The colon prep may be uncomfortable and you may feel hungry on the clear liquid diet. If you need to drink a special solution as part of your prep, be sure to have clear fruit juices or soft drinks to drink after the prep because the solution tastes salty.

A colonoscopy is an exam of your colon. I had one done this summer. You must drink only liquids for a day and a half before the test and take plenty of laxatives (the doctor will furnish this). Your colon has be completely clear of feces in order for the doctor to get a good look.
The procedure is done under anesthesia (IV medication) and you don't feel a thing or remember anything.
Plan to take the day before the test and the day of the test off of work/school.

Its called " the silver bullet" and is a scope introduced into your colon via the rectum, and the doctor can observe and find any irregularities inside of your colon, such as polyps or infections. This scope is flexible and has a light and camera on the end. They can also pass tools thru this device and take samples of tissue.
The most difficult part is the cleaning out of the colon by drinking a liquid called " Go-Lightly". There is some sedation during the procedure and at most, some pressure or slight discomfort would be the most you would feel.
Most men over 50 have this procedure done regularly.

A colonoscopy is the viewing of you colon or large intestine. It is done under a twi-light sleep. You are not aware of what's going on. It is done by an IV. You are not even sore afterwards.
The day before you will be given pills and so much you have to drink with them at certain times. This is to clean your colon out so the doctor can see really good.
I hope he/she doesn't find something unusual.
Good Luck! Don't worry.

It fairly does take a lot out of you. So be confident to loosen up and consume a healthful meal in the previous hand.

Well first off if you can get through drinking that yucky stuff the night before then you've got it made. You should be asleep for the whole thing. I went through it just a few weeks ago. All you'll remember is laying on the bed and the doctor telling you that he's ready to start.
