I hate to think about the cost as we bought a new house and that put us into debt for ( tilt ) amount of money. needless to say there was little under the tree except from Santa that year.

The most expensive Christmas gift I have ever given was a surprise 10-year anniversary trip to Key West that I planned for my wife (we went on our anniversary in February but I gave it to her as a Christmas gift so she'd have a couple months to prepare). I got the flights, found a nice B&B to stay at, arranged for my Mom to watch the kids while we were away, booked tickets for a day cruise to Dry Tortugas, and even arranged for us to renew our vows (I wrote the ceremony myself) at a little chapel while we were there. It took me a whole year to plan and she didn't have a clue! I finagled our family gift exchange to get her name and gave it to her in front of the whole family with a DVD showing pictures from our honeymoon - it was awesome!

I bought my husband an xbox 360 and some games last year for Christmas. Totally expensive but well worth it! I don't think I've ever seen him so excited - he literally started jumping up and down (for the record, we're young - 25).

Diamond cufflinks from Tiffany. I think they were about 10G.
I had them shipped to my elderly aunt in order to save on the sales tax, and she opened them, and thought they were huge diamond earrings, a gift for her!!
