for some reason my mom booked me a coach flight and i want to upgrade. if it makes a difference its from kuwait to colorado

My mom did the same freaking thing on my New York to Amsterdam flight! I went to the counter and asked how much it would cost and the lady said 3500 dollars so I called my mom and she was like you can last 8 hours in coach. That was not even my final destination (Ghana was) and the 3500 was not even going to cover the flight to Ghana! I did it and it was freaking miserable. I called her immediately when I finally got settled and told her I would never do it again and sure enough on my flight to Croatia after I left Ghana I was sitting in first class once again and same on my flight back to the US 2 weeks later.
