He was the main writer for ECW and Vince being the control freak rewrote most of his stuff. In the end, Heyman was sent home and will eventually have his contract run out without a renewal.

Here is the real truth.
Vince McMahon was absolutely irate in regards to how awful the ECW PPV was. Furthermore, McMahon was looking to put the blame on someone for it, and that person is Paul Heyman. The theory for the blame on Heyman is, "he is caught in the past and doesn't understand the new vision of ECW."
Problems started when most everyone realized that the ECW PPV was quite awful to say the least. Heyman was unhappy with how the show was booked and he voiced his concerns before and after the show. There were issues between Heyman and McMahon because of how the show played out on TV, with most everyone knowing that it was a disaster. Furthermore, the problems carried over from last night, and it led to something occuring backstage at today's RAW/ECW taping.
At 2:00 P.M., Heyman had a meeting with Vince and Stephanie McMahon. Heyman came out of the meeting looking as if nothing happened. Nobody had any idea that there was anything wrong between the two parties. Shortly thereafter, Heyman gathered his belongings and left the building to go home.

Ok It looks like I have to explian this one more time.
Paul Heyman was walking around backstage worried because he was afarid that Big Show would lose his title. But when he was in his room he was so worried that he fainted. And he bumped his head on the wall. Mr.McMahon was there to support the Hardy Brothers. Because after-all they are his favorite wreslters. But then he heard a loud banging sound coming from a room. And when that noise lead to Paul Heyman's dressing room he used his pass key to enter the room. But he entered the room and said who is in here? When he went inside the private bathroom he saw Paul Heyman liying down on the floor. Vince called for some help. And when 3 referrs cam inside the room, they said that he was breathing fine and all. 10 seconds later, Heyman gets up and says where am i? Mr.McMahon thought he was trying to fake it. So he told the other people to leave the room. And when they did. Mr.McMahon said that he is sending home Paul Heyman. Heyman was so mad that he left home. And to make matters worse Mr.McMahon changed the script. Instead of Big Show winning. He changed it to Bobby Lashley.
