...the way that ebay makes money on the sales the sellers make is they get 5% of every sale ... and then over a certain price they get a higher percent ... plus for auctions you have to atleast pay .20 to list an item and the prices go up.... I am a seller and the fees get crazy and the monthly listing bill is even crazier ...
plus ebay gets a % from Paypal ... they get a percent off what you get paid ....
for example:
The insertion fee was .20
D&D WAR OF THE DRAGON QUEEN Redspawn Firebelcher 120041919573 Final Value Fee $0.17
Final price: $3.30 (Auction) + (3.00 shipping)
Then here is the PayPal information on the same item
Total Amount:
$6.30 USD
Fee Amount:
-$0.48 USD
Net Amount:
$5.82 USD
So after all is said and done Ebay and Paypal
Got .85 on a 3.30 sale ....
they get their money from sellers.

e-bay charges a fee to sellers who list things on their website. Due to the fact that they are also the largest and most popular online auction site on the net, they also receive a lot of profits from advertising (other companies advertising on their site)

They charge you a listing fee to launch it live and then a percentage of the sale of the item.
Then they only allow you to use paypal for electronic payment now..They own paypal.
On average for regular items under $100 You are looking at....3% to Launch, 3% for after sale and 4% to Paypal.
ebay is starting to not be my friend

They do so much business, they need only collect a small percentage to make money, and the first 5 to 10 years they lost money.

a small percent goes to ebay for each sell. And with hundreds of thousands of sells per day, that makes for nice profit.

Did you go to grammar school? This is one of the most poorly constucted questions I've ever seen. Not to mention, it's located in the movies section.
