i was on the pill for 3 yrs and never missed my period. i became pregnant with days of coming off the pill... fluke of doctor's advice. he told me i would not get pregnant for 3-4 mths after because it will be in my system... lie... lie... but i am glad.

as to the signs- i did not know i was pregnant until i was 3 1/2 mths, i was never sick, etc and thought the little tummy growth was due to lack of period... dumb but real...

the best way is to take a test or ultra sound.

thats hard, because when I was on the pill for the brief amount of time that I was, I had pregnancy symptoms that were caused by the pill. My period was only a couple of days and very light but just as painful. I've heard of people skipping periods on the pill, but it was usually on purpose.
They say it takes your body three months to get used to the pill, since you have been on it four months, I'd say that's why you're not getting the side effects.
As for skipping your period. I've heard of it happening. How well do you take your pills? Do you take them at the same time every day? Did you miss a pill? If so, get a test, if not, don't sweat it.

If you just missed your period, it's probably still too early to have any signs of pregnancy. But it's not too early to take a home pregnancy test. It's unlikely to miss a period while on the pill, unless you skipped your placebo week and went straight to the next cycle of pills.

Better to take a test now so you know know for sure. If you're pregnant and decide to keep the baby, you need to stop taking the birth control pills immediately. Good luck.

You can get pregnancy while on the pill...not every form of birth control is totally 100% effective.

But as far as missing a period while on the pill, well, I would think if taken correctly and every day as directed, the chances of that would be rare. The horomones in the pills are what tells your body to bleed and when.

I had this happen once and it freaked me out...but then when I sat back and tried to think of what happened, I realized that I had gone from the end of one pack and didn't allow for the placebo pills (that week) and started a new pack right away. Therefore, there was a continous dosage of hormones in me.

DUH. I have no idea why I did that..just wasn't thinking....but that is what caused my lack of period that cycle.

If you've taken them as prescribed....and haven't done anything out of the ordinary like I have, I would be testing and then seeing my OBGYN.

I was about 16 weeks with my oldest daughter before I had any symptoms at all. I didn't even miss a period the first two trimesters. My missed periods were all that gave my second daughter away until I was about 20 weeks. With my son mourning sickness at 4 weeks, and a missed period were tell tale signs.

I never missed a period when I was on the pill. I didn't even know I was pregnant till I had missed my period and by then I was almost 6 weeks.

If you don't feel like your getting your period, do not start another pack. Wait for your period to start. After 1 week or 2 with still no sign of a period, take a test. Then definitly schedule an appt with your doctor. Good luck!

At the very least it takes about 2 weeks. However most women don't get symptoms till closer week 6 which is 1 month after conception.

you can get pregnant if you are on the pill aspecially since the pill takes three months to fully work, so if you had sex in the first three months then i would take a hpt.......i also had a friend who missed her periods all the time when she was on the pill
