Because they think they can fix the world and are often prideful. They don't think your average person is capable of being held accountable for their behavior and that the government needs to be more involved in peoples lives. They value an ideal they think is freedom over a society of order. They believe that they accomplished so much and that everyone should be just like them. They are not offended by people entering our county illegally because they are so far above them it won't affect what they do. I could go on, but I won't. Why leave out the JD's, when they are probably the most logical of the bunch? Additionally, it is interesting that most hard working, self made business men, and those who have excelled in the business world are more conservative. I think the answer all comes down to individual accountability.
Oh, almost forgot, because most of our institutions of education are ran by far far left liberals and they present information in a way that is slanted in their direction. Some may call it brainwashing, I just say it's pride and misinformation.

I dispute this number and challenge you to produce accurate information .
You might want to try 55% of those holding degrees from college are liberal and 60% of those with advanced degrees are liberal . They most often vote conservative and support strong family values despite their education .
They may lean liberal and accept the facts but do what they can to shield there children from reality .
10% of Americans are using drugs to some extent .50% drink and of those 10% abuse alcohol daily 50% abuse alcohol several times a month 40 % drink only on weekends and holidays And 10% have a drink from time to time A single drink or two at the most . Being educated and accepting reality is far from trying to manipulate it just enough so your kids do not head down the wrong path .
One in five people break the rules that govern our moral society to some extent .
This means someone in your family drinks to much does drugs has sex outside of marriage and the divorce rate sits at 50% . We are trying to conform to a set of guidlines developed by the land owners in an attempt to control the people they collected taxes and goods from .
Drunken mobs two hundred years ago where liable to burn down the mayors house or the judges home and run them out of town if they did not like what was going on .
The rich had hired hands-- Gun men /cowboys to protect the property and keep the slaves in line handle the local law andd politicians and nothing has changed . Factories had armed guards and fences to keep the worker in 14 - 16 hours a day .
An advanced degree or not it is better to travel in the right circles then become marred down in the masses trying to create true equality .
They speak liberal and vote conservative .
Or speak conservative and vote conservative .
Few of them work to change this twisted society we live under .
It is a mass brainwashing that has everyone saying that this is the greatest nation on earth . the truth is far from it . Good luck convincing anyone to actually believe you .

Interesting. According to "Party Politics in America" (M. Hershey, P. Beck; Addison-Wesley Educational Publishers, 2003), "People with lower incomes and less education are more likely to call themselves Democrats than Republicans." (p. 129)

From a sociological stand point, those who are from better off families that can send children through that much schooling are traditionally conservative on matter that are economical and liberal concerning politics. Those less fortunate are more likely to be conservative in values and liberal in economics.

I doubt your figures are accurate. I've wondered how people can believe some of the things conservatives believe, and being uneducated explains some of it, but so much is common sense I can't see what education has to do with it.
Maybe it is because you have to have studied some American History and Government to understand things like constitutionally guaranteed freedoms, and a lot of people were asleep in eigth grade civics.

if these numbers are true (I doubt they are) you have to take into consideration what the percentage of differernt graduate degrees. if you have 5 medical doctors and 20 journalism phds it skews the results but I bet that doesnt make sence to you.

Why are 90% of graduate degree holders so full of themselves, so self-congratulatory, so disconnected from reality?
By the way, I'd love a link for this "90%" figure.
