Nothing is standard. It all depends on the industry, the size of the company and other factors.

It varies according to the type of business. Commissions are larger on cheaper items and smaller on big ticket items. Some only pay commission, some have a draw against commissions and there are a few who offer a base salary with a commission or bonus.
