I was overweight by about 50 lbs after having my baby and was eating dinner in the local coffee shop that my best friend owned. The girl working behind the counter was about a size negative zero and was munching down on a cinnamin roll. I had a 2 second friendly chat with her (I knew her on an aquaintance level) and then ordered some nachos and a diet drink. She got the nachos and sat down again to eat her roll and I politely said "I ordered a diet Mt Dew also". She was clearly aggitated that I'd interrupted her sugar feast and gritted her teeth as she got up and poured a regular Mt Dew. I said "Oh man, I hate to do this to you but I needed a Diet Mt. Dew". She did the "oh yah, my bad" bit but then as she turned to hand me my drink she said in a snobby voice "You just ordered nachos and now you're drinking DIET? I don't understand why people do this. EXPLAIN this to me" and then she glared and handed me my drink. It's the closest I ever came to physically attacking someone in my entire life. I darn-near climbed over the counter to rearrange her face. I was SOOOOO offended! She got fired and I got even by losing the 50 lbs. The next time she saw me I was thin and very healthy.

My dad has severe arthritis so it's hard for him to walk, even though he's only 41. And one day, my mom and I were shopping, and we saw a friend of the family and we stopped to talk. This 'friend' told me not to worry, because Jesus would come and take my Dad up to heaven soon. I was like "Uhhm, no, he's not in that bad of health right now" and the guy was like "No, Jesus told me. He's gonna come and take your father out of this miserable life."
And I got pissed... I cried later. That's a horrible thing to say to someone.

my grandfather was the most wonderful man in my life ever. his granddaughters were the apple of his eye. he lit up everytime i walked into a room and always wanted to spend time with us. he's the grandfather you see in movies the picture perfect grandfather. sadly he passed away not too long before i was to get married. he got sick then two months later he died all though we didn't know he was going to die until 2 weeks prior to his death (or maybe i just wasn't accepting that i was going to lose him until 2 weeks prior to his death) it tore me apart and that pain has only been surpassed to this day by the death of my mother. (now to get to the point) i was upset and crying pretty hard about his death and my fiance looked at me and said "why are you so upset you knew he was going to die?" that by far is the most insensitive thing ever said to me.

When I became very ill, and couldn't keep weight on, no matter how much I ate, a colleague came up, touched my shoulders, and said, "Your shoulders look so nasty -- why don't you eat something?" I was shocked, and couldn't help laughing -- I noticed then that she was actually quite overweight. Jealous of a sick person? Man, oh man . . .

i dated this guy who would do a kind of grab/pat/rub on my tummy and say "what'cha got in there, huh?"
he was joking, i know, but ever since then i've always been really paranoid about my stomach and i'm not overweight by any means. i can rock a bikini, but it's taken me a few years to feel o.k. enough to do that.
yeah, that was pretty insensitive.
take care.

The EXCUSE the Caseworker for the Adult Child I raised gave me for giving an Unsupervised Visitation between that child and my ex-spouse (who then took this 'opportunity' to FREELY BURGLARIZE my HOME in August 2006 -- and this was after I already pressed charges for the Adult Child Assaulting me in the first place) --
MY duty is to the caseload -- I have NO OBLIGATION to your safety at all -- NONE.
(As for my response -- it is unprintable here -- I asked the person HOW in the WORLD could they SLEEP at Night knowing KNOWN Abusers/Criminals were ABLE to BURGLARIZE my HOME and LEAVE the state (with the caseworker's blessing and help, of course) with MY property and USE the Proceeds from that Burglary to FUND their living expenses (and this does NOT include the property damage of course)).
The Caseworker's response: I sleep VERY WELL at night, OF COURSE, knowing I am doing my job. (Note: Yeah, caseworkers, you did your "job" -- right -- you were an ACCESSORY to the Crimes, and you allowed it to happen, and you HELPED them Flee with MY PROPERTY and covered up your actions -- but you can't COVER UP MY CELL PHONE BILL records -- which list every phone call that day -- INCLUDING the one to your offices noting the Burglary in PROGRESS ....)
