Its important to not sing from your throat you must sing from your diaphragm! If you don't, you will mess your voice up really bad. Especially if you do songs with high ranges! I am a singer myself and I feel I've come a long way vocally. This is partly because I get proper rest, I have a vocal coach, and I don't let stress wear on my voice. FYI stress weighs heavy on your voice. My advice to you is...relieve stress in a low key manner, get plenty of rest, drink water, tea lemon, also raw garlic keeps your nasal clear(VERY IMPORTANT), and get a vocal coach. They can teach you how to breathe so you won't have to put such a strain on your voice! Good luck in all you are trying to do!

No smoking or alcohol. I would also suggest 6 glasses of water a day. You may also want to warm-up as low (volume-wise) as you can without straining. This way you can retrain your voice for proper placement. I swear by Aloe Vera juice as well. Slippery Elm lozenges are fantastic. And yes, lack of sleep (even though I'm incredibly guilty of this one) will just about take your voice out. Think of it as a muscle and condition it the same way. If you had to move refrigerators all day and slept for 3 hours that night, you would barely be able to put your hat on. Your voice needs the same amount of recovery.
