Here is what I have.

Darwin's 4 points are:

1. Adapt. All organisms adapt to their environments
2. Variation: All organisms are variable in their traits
3. Over-reproduction: All organisms tend to over reproduce beyond their environments capacity to support them.
3. Natural Selection: Not all species are equally well adapted to their environment. Those that do adapt will survive and reproduce better than others.

Hope this helps

Straight out of my Animal Behavior book:

Evolutionary change is inevitable if 3 conditions are met:
1. Variation, such that members of a species differ in some of their characteristics.
2. Heredity, with parents able to pass on some of their distinctive characteristics to their offspring
3. Differences in reproductive success, such that some individuals have more surviving offspring than others in their population, thanks to their distinctive characteristics.

and then natural selection will also occur when there is competition for resources, which is the 4th point.

1. Adaptation: all organisms adapt to their environments.
2. Variation: all organisms are variable in their traits.
3. Over-reproduction: all organisms tend to reproduce beyond their environment's capacity to support them (this is based on the work of Thomas Malthus, who studied how populations of organisms tended to grow geometrically until they encountered a limit on their population size).
4. Since not all organisms are equally well adapted to their environment, some will survive and reproduce better than others -- this is known as natural selection. Sometimes this is also referred to as "survival of the fittest". In reality this merely deals with the reproductive success of the organisms, not solely their relative strength or speed.
