I have to answer phones professionally all day at a business and deal a lot with the public. I also like to sing. How can I get rid of the raspy sound I always get this time of year?

If you are congested then eat a clove of garlic raw one little clove in the mourning and one at night for two days straight. It sounds crazy but it really works.I did it ,my vocal coach recommended it to me and it work I was all clear. I am a singer myself so I have to be right. Good luck with that I know how frustrating that is especially when you sing!

There is a possibility this is more allergy related, and a result of drainage through the throat, you may want to check with your Doctor about Flonaise if that is the case.

However, you can wrap a warm moist towel around your throat for 30 minutes each morning and gargle with warm salt water, and it will losen your vocal cords, and should help with the raspy voice.

you really need to see a doctor to rule out any illness and to seek his advice for something like this. if you're not ill, you may be straining your voice.

however, a spoonful of honey stirred into a glass of warm water together with a slice or two of lemon is supposed to be soothing to the throat.

Anything that will coat the throat (think honey) is good and drink a lot of water. Also, do NOT whisper; that actually puts more strain on your throat than regular talking does.

I sip on hot/warm tea to take care of this problem. Staying well hydrated is key to keeping your throat & vocal chords from drying out especially in the Winter. (Staying indoors with the heater on more than usual because of the cold can really dry out the throat.)
