Crying = she wants something. You don't just LET her cry if she really needs something.

Is she teething?
Is she hungry?
Does she had a wet diaper?
Did she had a night terror?
Did she wake up and didn't know where she was?

You DON'T just let a child cry because you don't know what's wrong. You go in and figure it out. Babies aren't like dogs. They won't shut up if you ignore it. They are crying because they need YOU.

Some babies cry alot....does she have an ear infection??? Maybe some sort of cold that prevents her from being comfortable? If she is old enough is it possible that she may be teething? First things first...your folks need to take her to the doctor to make sure she has no health problems...be sure to let the doctor know about the crying and let him know that it is hard to soothe the baby at night. They may be able to offer you some ways to keep the baby content. If there are no true health problems...it is not uncommon for some babies to cry alot. My second child cried alot...and usually not for any reason that we could figure out. Some babies do that..it won't last forever..I know it is hard to deal with but REALLY it won't last forever.
Good Luck and Sweet Dreams.

Well, Check the diaper, burp, and feed.
Your baby is probably teething, therefore can't sleep well. my baby is the same age, and is going threw the same thing. I don't think your baby is colicky, because that usually begins earlier and ends around now-ish. You can give baby Tylenol, and baby ambesol or orejel. Try during the end of the day keeping her up more so she will sleep. Some people put a little cereal in the bottle, with formula. It helps them sleep longer. ( if you don't breast feed) Be sure to use a bigger nipple.

I was colic when i was a baby and i would cry non stop for no reason at all...she could have that. there is no remedy for it but it's not all that unhealthy either, since it actually helps strengthen the lungs. It's not too uncommon either for babies to have colic. I guess just keep trying different things..i only had it for the first few months so hopefully she will grow out of it soon. Don't panic about her health...just be patient, thats my best advice!

The child could be teething. The child could also be over tired which will cause them to appear wide awake and to cry excessively. If those two are not the case I would get a 2nd opinion from another doctor.

There is always a reason. Probably a tummy ache . Try Mylicon Drops. Or maybe she is going through a spurt and is hungrier than usual. Also, rocking the baby and just holding her will make you both feel better.

At 5 months old, your baby is probably teething. Try to get some teething gel or tablets. That will probably help a lot.
