transgendered people die every year from hate crimes. these crimes tend to be gruesome and extremly violent and are aimed at transgendered people because we are different. statistics show that there are more hate based crimes commited against transgender people than gay and lesbian combined

Yes, there were several. Do a google search. There are online lists of LGBT's who were murdered just for the mere perception of them being GLBorT.
