My sister had job in a store, she was given special training to sell the insurance, and sell the wash machine at a loss, co's there was more profit in that than the products they sold By the way that was British Gas Scotland

I used to work for PC world and they always pushed the warranty sale.
If your printer breaks down you will have to return it to the manufacturer outside the 28 day period.
If you have an instant replacement warranty it exchanged no fuss.
The salesman make a nice tidy profit flogging insurance all companies do.

Yes, they are a bunch of cowboys.

The insurance scam is bad enough, the people they send to your house are usually hopeless. I've had to fix a few computers for friends because of poor repairs.

Their other scam, that they try from time to time is to send you a token for a half price PC health check. This means that instead of charging you £40+ you get charged just £20 for them to wipe your hard drive. A couple of my friends have been stung by this one, when you say "But what about all my files you've wiped?", their response is "Well sir/madam there are less files on your computer so it will now go faster!". They don't give a damn that they've wiped peoples business files, hundreds of pounds worth of music downloaded from itunes etc or worst of all peoples personal photos that can't be replaced.

PC World - I'm on the warpath too. I took my pc to be repaired and asked them to be careful not to lose my stored files. When I went to pick it up, the bloke said casually 'by the way, we've wiped everything.' He couldn't have cared less. I was unable to speak for a few minutes while I took it in. PC World are just a bunch of cowboys.

I do agree that insurance is quiet a big scam, and they try to pin this on you as much as possible.

The worse one is the mobile insurance. Did you know that 80% people don't realise that they pay £5/ month insuring a phone AS WELL AS paying insurance that covers the phone and lots of other stuff.
