I'm under the impression that east coasters don't care much about western teams...now with the schedule changes, i wouldn't be surprised if my perception infiltrates deeper...

Let me know how you feel about the opposing conference teams...and which team you like. Thanks.

I'd say to the general hockey watcher that they are starting to know less and less about opposing conference teams. I like the Toronto Maple Leafs now. Personally I really don't liek the schedule because I would rather see teams like Colorado and Detroit 2 times a year rather than Ottawa or Boston 8 times. I used to know a lot about everytime. But now its more focused on the north east division and the eastern conference...

Being from MN I am kind of in the middle, but we are in the Western Conference. If you are talking about how they feel about playing teams in the western conference, personally I think that most of the games should be played within their own conference, similar to the way it is done in Baseball. I think it is good that there are some games against certain teams, because it is a chance to see some good players and teams that you don't normally get to see. But I don't like the idea of having to play every team in the league once or twice a year. I like the idea of playing the same teams more often because it builds rivalries.

Its not that I don't care about the east coast teams, it just that I don't want to seem my team playing them all the time. The exception is seeing a game against the stanley cup champs.

I'm an east coast fan, and I like to watch some western games, and just keep an eye on what's going on over there. I think that you guys have a lot of great teams in your conference, and I'd personally like to see a lot more opposing conference games... Oh yeah, I pull for the Hurricanes.

I grew up in the east "new Brunswick" to be exact and the closes NHL team was Montreal so we really didn't get into it to much but I knew of the Edmonton Oliers...I was there biggest fan....but I found most others were either Montreal or Toronto.....they didn't go fare from home....its going to get worse now that the east don't meet the west very much...but the real reason the east don't care about the west is................the western teams are further spaced out and the easterns don't like the long road trip......but for me it would make it so much better hockey if they all played together like before

I'm a rangers fan (eastern conf).

My opinion on the western conference is that they just look for people who can skate, they dont hit as much, dont play defense, and its just unorganized hockey. Can be exciting with end to end rushes, but it seems like most of the teams in the western conference are a bit weaker, with the exceptions being the usual powerhouse teams.

I'm from the west but like the East Coast team better(Montreal). There are more big stars in the east and we don't get to see them often here because of the schedule. If you're a season ticket holder, why would you want to see Columbus, Minnesota 4 times in a season. When you can see Toronto, Montreal and other teams. GO HABS.

They are over there and we are over here. San Jose sells out every game and hockey is huge here. Our in house league has 12 division and about 6-8 teams per division. lots of hockey for the Adults. We love the Sharks and love seeing most teams leave here with a "L" , usually
West coast teams are pretty good but players do float around the league. Seeing fan favorites in Bruins Uniforms is harsh but we love Joe Thorton and miss Scott. Very loyal fans here! Oh and what about the Ducks. Not an LA fan but they look scary.
History or not San Jose loves their Sharks. I love seeing Rangers crap out. Liked Seeing Carolina win the cup. Hockey is a special sport like no other and for those who play at that level...wow! For those who play at any level wow too!

I would like to see them more but the problem is that in doing so, it would mean less games against teams in the Eastern Conference or more games overall. The season is already 30 games too long. There are too many teams in every major sport.

As a Canuck fan, I HATE most of the Western teams. I wish we played the more exciting East. I also prefer the traditional teams than the stupid Sharks, Ducks, etc.

The schedule is bogus. Can you imagine the NBA having MJ in his heyday only showing up in, say, LA once every three years? That's what the NHL is doing with its most marketable players (i.e., Ovechkin, Crosby) and its most marketbale teams (i.e., Laffs, Habs, Rangers). The NHL is a joke and survives despite itself.
