i have just brought a nin wii and it worked fine for hours but it has just stopped the controller keeps flashing 4 blue lights and no response from the wii. does anybody know what has happened

You have to re-sink your Wii back up again, this happened to me as well. Open the front of the memory card slot and you'll see a red button, THEN take off the battery slot on your Wiimote and you'll see a red button. Push the red button on the Wiimote and then the button on the Wii, the lights on the Wii will blink, push the number 1 button and hold it down, this will assign that Wiimote as the number one Wiimote, look at the guide as there is a section on how to sink up the Wiimote. This has not happened to mine, but it did sort of "freeze up" once. The four lights are flashing probably because the remote has lost signal from the wii. I would turn off and unplug the wii and plug it back in again, then pull out the batteries in the remote to be a fresh boot up.

you actually got a wii?
just a glitch i suspect, just replace the batteries and reset the console. If the problem is widespread, i suspect Nintendo may send a software patch over the internet

If batteries are ok try re-syncing the wiimote to the wii unit (pressing sync on wiimote - button inside battery bay, whilst pressing the sync button on the wiii - by sd card slots), press both buttons at the same time and it will re-establish link.

Im not sure as i dont have one (envy!) but could the batteries in the remote be running low?
or maybe you have to recalibrate the remote so the wii knows where the remote is, hope this helps!

same thing happened to me now the wii gone dead too n won't even start back up!!! got it this morning had it less then 12 hours n its fuked up already waste of money :(
