No. I treat everyone like every other human being. If any other human being doesn't respect me, regardless of rank, they do not deserve respect from me. Golden Rule : Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Inherently teachers by what they have to put up with deserve respect. I think you will find that you will have an easier time gaining a teachers respect by treating them with respect first. And that means more than just a little bit. Some teachers, because they have been through a ton of junk, may never treat you with the level of respect that you feel you deserve. But before you're too critical, you need to put yourself into their position. Often they are under paid, working long hours even after the kids go home, working with kids that would rather not be there in many cases and who often may try to make your job harder rather than attempting to learn from you. So you may need to cut the teacher a little break and seriously consider what they have to put up with on a regular basis. And then remember they are doing their job to help you when they could probably make more money working somewhere else.

Hell, no! Respect goes both ways. At least, internally you don't need to respect him/her, but just avoid them as much as you can.

I have had university professors like that. Some teachers are so arrogant, they think they know everything but they really don't. One time, I had a community college English teacher who was about 75, had a smokers cough and walked around with a pack of cigarettes always poking out of his shirt pocket. He was also a real arrogant jerk, and he made me so pissed that I gave him the finger. After that, I told him I had ADD so it wouldn't affect my grade. I didn't go back to class much, either. I got a 3.5 but he is still probably a dick, teaching young minds to kiss his behind in order to get good grades. Sorry, I needed to vent about that one.

No. I still show respect for the teacher, but I don't have respect for them. The person might mess with my grades in a sneaky way. Like I am gonna mess with them.

Math teacher for example, total *****, but I smile and nod my head. Simple as that!

Of course.

Respect the position if not the person. Just like you'd respect a judge, doctor or cop.

Absolutely, As said before you respect the position he or she holds, and the knowledge he/she has and can pass onto you. Also, ask yourself why he/she doesn't respect you, than try to resolve it. It will only hurt you in the end, He/She has nothing left to prove to anyone

Yes, it is a matter of maturity. Even though someone may be disrespectful, it doesn't mean you have to show them that in return. Be the bigger person. They may even eventually respect you for it.

Always.

I'm curious to know how they don't respect you.

I have never had a teacher truly disrespect me. Any cases that I have heard of that is when a student is a screw up and blames a teacher for their shortcomings.

yes because if they see the respect you show often enough it will rub off but even if she still doesnt you know you tried to make it work
