well i like some rock songs and im black well my fav is lips of an angel by hinder. well wen i sing it my cousin and sister look at me funny like all im suppose to listen to is rap hip hop and r&b.

no, thts not weird at all!! who cares if they look at u weird, all tht matters is tht u like the song!!! just because ur african american doesnt mean tht u have to listen to r&b and rap.

No that's not weird at all. I don't wanna get into racial issues, but it bugs me when black people think that black people can only listen to rap and r&b. There's so much more music out there that they're missing out on. Don't let them make you be close minded. You know...there are a lot of black musicians that do rock/punk/metal, etc. Bad Brains were all black, and they pretty much invented hardcore punk (they did reggae, too). Fishbone is all black and they do a mix between metal/rock/punk/ska. Whole Wheat Bread is all black and they do pop punk stuff (as well as some hip hop). There is no reason that you should have to listen to a certain type of music based on your skin tone. If they give you funny looks...sing louder. A lot of those rappers listen to other kinds of music besides hip hop. Andre 3000 is a big rock and punk fan. Snoop Dogg was a big Johnny Cash Fan. Music is supposed to reach out to everyone. That's why it's called the universal language.
P.S. I must admit, though, if I saw you singing Hinder, I'd look at you funny, too. I hate that band.

You can listen to whatever you want. I think that your sister and cuz just want to stereotype that black people should listen to rap, White rock, and people that live in the country side country. It is not like that though. I like rap and rock and all kinds of music and do not care what other people think. Try to do the same!=))

I don't think it's weird. I mean, just because u're black doesn't mean u only have to listen to rap. It's like white people should only listen to music sung/played by white people, and that doesn't happen. So rock on, girl :D

I believe you are free to listen to whatever you like.Its a free world aint it??Dont mind them.Am black & i like some rock and trust me i sing out loud especially Daniel Powters Bad day and Blu Octobers hate me.

Girl you are fine. don't worry about it. I'm a white girl and all i listen to is r&b and hip-hop. People just have different taste in music.

Please, don't feel weird. Genres were created to separate us, and I admire the few people who like what they like, not "I like this song because every other person I know likes it. Stick with induviduallity.
