I have a 2001 Xerox Phaser 6200 color laser printer. It is leaving magenta streaks and tonor lines all over my paper. The repair company has been here already and told me they needed to take it to their shop for proper repair. The nature of my business is that I need this printer everyday. They told me they could rent me a printer for a few hundred dollars and that the repair would take 4-5 days and cost would be based on labor hours. Is it worth fixing? What is the average life-span for this printer? Any suggestions? Also, the graphic print quality is sub-par and I need it to be good, the streaks make it worse.Any recomendations on a color laser printer that produces excellent picture and image quality? Data: has printed total pages from engine--40,568 and has printed 160,128 images. Thanks!

You might want to check the following page from Xerox on ordering information for replacing the routine maintenance items such as:
1. Imaging unit - good for 30,000 pages $280
2. 110v Fuser - good for 15,000 pages $210
3. Transfer Roller - good for 15,000 pages $46

The maintenance items adds up. So it may be better to buy a new printer. The 8500 is $500 and prints almost twice as fast.

The paper jam sensors need the white to "see" the paper enter and exit the sensors to know there is not a paper jam. If you put a strip of white tape along the leading and trail edge of the paper it will work. BUT you will not see much on the black as it cannot print white. A suggestion is to print on white paper but use a solid black background.
