USE YOUR ATM CARD AT A FOREIGN BRANCH OF YOUR BANK!!! Once you arrive in-country, your bank will give you the best exchange rate. Even if you bank does not have a branch or ATM in-country, using another bank's ATM gives you the same exchange rate but tacks on a surcharge of like 3 euros incremental to the fee that your bank will charge you for withdrawing from another bank. Even with these surcharges, it is still better than using an exchange bureau. Those are total rip-offs because they charge you a percentage of what you exchange. Think about it, if they weren't making an obscene amount of money off of you, why are there so many of them?

Wait until the Dollar rises against the Euro. Right now it is at it's lowest point in some time. Once you wait till the right moment it might save a you bit if you are exchanging quiet a bit. ATM's are particulary the better way of exchanging, but still the surcharges add up. Travelers Checks are starting to become less used around the world with ATM's. I wouldn't recommend Ebay because once you add of shipping and everything, it really doesn't pay that much to exchange and you can't really get that large of quantities through Ebay. I would stick with ATM's or wait until the Dollar rises a bit more against the Euro and just use a large bank branch.

The best way is to go to your local bank and buy about 200 Euros just to be on the safe side
in order to use in the Airport and to take you to
your destination ,then use the ATM if no charge
or very little or go to any national bank.
Stay away from the private places for exchange
or the streets you might pay little More but you get real money.
Good luck & enjoy your trip

We've found the best rates are to be had by purchasing USD American Express Traveller's checks, then going to the American Express office and exchanging them for Euro there.
Money changing stores, or "cambios" or banks have worse exchange rates. Credit card companies do not generally give a very good rate, though they are convenient to use. They do give the daily rate of exchange (look on your cc statement) plus they tack on a per-dollar charge for the privilege of changing your money.
The worst places to exchange money is at the hotel desk or at an airport kiosk!!

Never ever exchange money from some one on the street you don't know, no matter how good the "offer" seems. There are a lot of counterfeiters around. Use ATMs.

call or digital mail the dep. of Treasury and that they are going to be chuffed to describe to you why the dollar is greater than the Euro. It would not have something to do with politics and no remember if different international locations like or dislike the USA of a!!!!
